Skin to skin

I built a wall
Built it in silence
Stone by stone
An unseen wall

I built a wall
Not to keep good neighbours
No racist
It keeps everyone out

If Babel was built in pride
Mine was built of fears
God seems more pleased
By fear than pride

I’ve rendered it with my smile
A smile so hard and fixed
Its warmth cold
Before eyes reached

From tall eyries
I watch for your approach
For could I endure your probing pain
Could you endure the avalanche of me

Lets keep our love
Skin to skin
I’ve built a wall

Between our souls
